Railway to Brighton.
The histroy of this line goes back till 1859, when a survey was ordered so that a route for the railway line to Willunga could be established. Construction of this line didn't commence until early 1912. It wasn't until November, 1913 that the first section - from Goodwood to Marino was opened. As time went on other station were built, one of those was for a stop near the Town Hall. This was named Middle Brighton at first. There were a lot of suggestioned names; some of those were, Dunrobin, Tingana, Braemar, Midway, Main Road, but finally in January 1920 Councillor E. Anthony moved that the station be called "Hove".

There were ten return trips per day Monday to Saturday & on Sunday there was only eight. Passenger trains in 1915, were scheduled to take 30 minutes for the journey. This station was replaced with a new one 1976. Photo: Doug Colquhoun |
